This exquisite wooden doll features Russian Rulers from the revolutionary organizer of the Communist Party, Vladimir I. Lenin to the latest Russian president, Vladimir V. Putin. Each personality captured very skillfully (by Russian artist V. Litvinov) in this rare and historically rich illustrated stacking doll. The front reads "All power to the Soviets" (Вся власть – Советам!) – A Bolshevik slogan for the eve of the October Revolution in 1917. The back of the doll features the famous propaganda poster slogan by Dmitry Moor, "Did You Volunteer?" from 1920. This 10 1/2" tall doll has a matte finish and was imported directly from the city of Sergiev Posad, Russia (location signed by artist on bottom). This highly-collectible, artist-signed nesting doll makes a great gift for an art collector or political enthusiast.
