This religious wooden egg was made by hand in Sergiev Posad, Russia. It features a great depiction of St. George the Victorious, aka Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy-Bearer, Victory-bearer and Wonderworker George, St George the Victory Bearer. Here St George the Victory Bearer, depicted as a horseman slaying the serpent. Great Martyr George intercede with Christ our God for our souls salvation. Saint George is a patron saint of Moscow and appears on Moscow’s coat of arms. The handwritten note on the bottom of the egg says: St. George the Victorious, Sergiev Posad, and Artist's initials. The deep religious history of the Russian people has long been epitomized in the carving and decorating of eggs and iconography. The egg is a symbol of new life and resurrection.
