This 1987 Russian coin commemorates the 130th anniversary of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky's birth. It depicts monument to Tsiolkovsky (Russian and Soviet rocket scientist and pioneer of the astronautic theory) in Moscow, flying rocket, stars, dates: "1857 - 1935" (reverse). What a souvenir from Russia!

Commemorative coins were released in the USSR between 1965 and 1991. Most of them were made of copper-nickel alloy. Diameter: 31 mm. Edge stamped «Один Рубль» - one ruble. Saint Petersburg Mint of Goznak (State Insignia), St. Petersburg, Russia.
