This beautiful gold-plated brass crucifix and stand was crafted by Russian monks living and working in The Sofrino Monastery, located in a province near Moscow. The upper bar of this crucifix represents the title of the cross, the second the arms, and the lowest, which is always inclined at an angle, the suppedaneum or foot-rest. It is an additional reminder of the life-giving Crucifixion of the Lord which brought salvation to the whole human race. This item is religious artifact used during various church ceremonies and is made following the long-established canons of the Christian church. It is an indelible addition to any religious collection and would also make for a wonderful church donation or gift.
