This Vintage Tea Glass Holder (circa 1950) Represents the Bogdan Khmelnitsky monument in Kiev, Ukraine, which was raised in 1888. Bogdan Khmelnitsky was a historical leader of proletarian revolution in 17th century, who freed Ukraine from Polish occupation. It is an Old Russian tradition, drinking tea from a glass with a tea glass holder "Podstakannik". The metal absorbs the heat of the boiling water so the glass never breaks and the tea is kept warm. It is always special to drink tea the Russian way and it is becoming more popular in America and Western Europe.
