This brooch is a miniature painting of a floral design. Floral motives are quite popular and most are painted in Zhostovo style. Zhostovo painting is one of the traditional types of Russian decorative work developed in the village of Zhostovo, Moscow region. It appeared at the beginning of 19th century under the influence of Ural flower painting on metal. The shape of brooches can vary. On the backside of each brooch is a safety pin that allows the brooch to securely fasten to clothing. The painting on the brooch is covered with layers of transparent glossy lacquer to protect the painting. Each brooch is signed by the artist. Designs might slightly vary. Size: 2 1/4' Long Pieces: 1
