The Russian Store was founded by Gary and Irene Pearson. "Wait just a minute!" you say, "That last name doesn't sound Russian to me." Well in fact it's not. Gary and Irene are first generation immigrants who came to the US in search of a better life for themselves and their family. In the process, they went through many adjustments -- one of which was their name.
As many immigrant before them, Gary and Irene learned quickly about the power of the American economy. Shortly following their arrival, and for many years after, they started and successfully ran a dry-cleaning business in both Chicago, IL and Chandler, AZ. And though they were pleased with their success in the dry-cleaning industry, they longed for the day when it would be possible to offer their new American friends some of the enchanting cultural treasures that Russia has to offer.
After the cold-war ended, and many years after they came to America, the opportunity to do just that finally presented itself!
Gary reacquainted himself with his Russian counterparts who he now works with to produce and import the products sold by The Russian Store, and Irene drives the operations with a focus on sales, marketing, and customer relations.
