Russian Glass Vases
Nature was the world’s first glass maker. The lightning or the eruption of volcanoes resulted in the melting of rocks and sand into glass. This glass derived its color from the natural impurities present in the sand at the time. Next glassmakers, among the earliest, were Russians. Their first glass factory dates all the way back to the 9th Century BC and they have been getting better ever since.
Russian Art Glass is made by melting together simple ingredients like sand, soda ash and lime. This molten substance is then cooled with various techniques to get the desired shape. Blowing is the most common method used by the extremely talented Russian glass artists to make the Russian Art Glass vases. They are also known for being very adventurous with their colors. They deliberately introduce mineral impurities or purified metal salts to derive exciting and unprecedented shades that are a treat to the eyes.
The Glowing Fantasy Art Glass Vase is the result of one such passionate experiment. Its opulent colors that look like the tones of brown illuminate to lovely hues of orange, mauve, burgundy, coffee and gray when held against a light source. With a lighted candle placed inside, it creates a remarkably glow effect!
What adds a feather to the Russian Art Glass’s cap is that all these pieces are hand made! Some human being with his mere hands and the inexpensive sand created this master piece. And hence, it is one of a kind! You will never walk into someone else’s living room to find the exact same piece as the one on your side table.
