You Need to See How Our Christmas Ornaments Are Made!
Though it may a little early to be talking about Christmas (unless of course you mean Christmas in July) we recently found some photos from a trip to Ukraine. Our hand blown glass ornaments are always one of our biggest sellers, so we thought you might like to see how they’re made:
First the glass blower has to shape the glass. The rings you see in this photo are to gauge the size of the ornament. Though a lot of these craftsman are so talented that they just eyeball it.
The second step of a process is called silvering; each blown ball or other ornament is dipped into a liquid shimmering silver color, and then placed on the racks below until they’re dry.
After the glass is ready to be painted on, they’re handed off to the next series of artists who paint place all of the intricate details on each bauble. Steady hands, a good eye, and years of practice all come in handy:
Here are some close ups:
After the design is painted on, the ornament needs to be garnished with just the right amount of glitter.
Now the next step can’t be overlooked! Carefully placing them in their packaging so they’re ready to be shipped – after all no one wants a broken ornament!
And of course the final step is for you to check out our impressive selection of hand-blown glass Christmas ornaments, and find one that you would like to put on your tree! It’s never too early for some Christmas spirit!
